A California legislative panel unanimously approved a bill to legalize cannabis for pets. The measure, AB 1885, was sponsored by Assemblymember Ash Kalra, who said, “AB 1885 would ensure that veterinarians are able to use their expert judgment to recommend regulated, therapeutic cannabis products for the pets in their care.” The bill also requires the state Veterinary Medical Board to come up with guidelines for vets to follow for cannabis products they recommend. Please remember that your pet is not the same as a human body, and animals have different toxicity levels, so you should never try to self administer cannabis, and definitely never try to get your pet high. If high, your pet may show a variety of signs such as being hyperactive or lethargic, disoriented, very vocal, they may drool excessively, vomit, have urinary incontinence, tremors, seizures, and even coma can result. Fortunately, these side effects are usually short-lived, but they can still be dangerous and make the pet quite miserable. In addition to the considerable harm that can come to them, it is also considered animal abuse. So please, leave it to the experts and consult your Vet. Comments are closed.
