While some politicians cling to their archaic view of cannabis having no medicinal value…. Yet another study shows the exact opposite. A clinical trial, conducted by researchers at the NYU Langone Health, along with Baptist Health/Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute, found that an orally absorbed tablet containing cannabidiol (CBD) “safely managed pain after minimally invasive rotator cuff surgery, and did not produce side effects sometimes associated with CBD use, such as nausea, anxiety, and liver toxicity.” Researchers randomly sorted 99 participants across two study sites, New York City and Jacksonville. The participants were between the ages of 18 and 75, and were sorted into a placebo group and a group receiving orally absorbed CBD. Rotator cuff surgery patients were “prescribed a low dose of Percocet, [and] instructed to wean off the narcotic as soon as possible,” they were also told, “to take the placebo or CBD [depending on their group].” The study found that the patients who received the CBD tablet experienced between 22 to 25% less pain compared to those who received placebo. They also reported higher satisfaction with pain control in general with CBD. The researchers said this signals that patients with "moderate pain, CBD may render a significant benefit.” Another piece of data learned was that patients who received the CBD experienced no major side effects. On Monday, TR Processing LLC revealed that it served as the CBD supplier and said that Former President Bill Clinton has been “following the study through the Clinton Foundation.” President Clinton said in his own statement, “The Clinton Foundation has worked for years to reduce opioid addiction and deaths. To succeed, we need non-addictive alternatives to pain management. The results of the trial conducted by NYU Langone, with TRP’s CBD ingredient, are very encouraging and I’m eager to see the results of the next round.” Chris Kanaley, chief strategy officer at TR Processing, said that the company is “Tackling opioid abuse and addiction through the development of safer pain management alternatives is the first of many potential uses of our unique processing platform, and we are enthusiastic about the future. Our work has tremendous potential to become precision medicine at its best.” Comments are closed.
