FBI Says Don’t Even Both Applying For a Job With Them if You’ve Used Cannabinoids in Past Year9/6/2022
![]() This past week the Denver field office for the FBI said that anyone interested in joining the FBI must have abstained from consuming any cannabinoids, including CBD, for at least a year before they consider submitting an application to work there. They also emphasized that marijuana cards or other prescriptions would not be considered mitigating factors. A spokesperson for the Denver field office told Marijuana Moment that these recent comments were “specific to our contract linguist position.” However, it also pointed to the agency’s broader employment eligibility guidance on cannabis which says specifically says that FBI job candidates, “cannot have used marijuana or cannabis in any form (natural or synthetic) and in any location (domestic or foreign) within the one (1) year preceding the date of their application for employment.” Hemp and it’s derrivatives, such as CBD, were federally legalized under the 2018 Farm Bill, but the FBI is still clinging to their old rules. Back in 2020, an FBI field office said that their employment policies for cannabidiol use were “under review,” but no changes have yet been made. Comments are closed.
