It’s no April Fool’s joke… the lucky residents of New Mexico will be able to legally smoke weed on April 1st! A year after adult recreational use was made legal, the state is set to begin those sales on April 1st, which happens to be a Friday, and what a great way to kick off the weekend! New Mexico had already legalized medical marijuana, so the cultivators and dispensaries are already in place to support sales to the general public on April 1st. Leafly’s app currently lists 118 medical marijuana dispensaries in New Mexico and it’s expected that most if not all will open up to recreational sales then as well. Later on this week Leafly says they will publish a full website page detailing where to find your closest dispo in New Mexico on the 1st. New Mexico dispensary owners say they are fully prepared to accommodate all the new patrons by making sure their shelves are all abundantly stocked with inventory. Adults may purchase and possess up to 2 ounces of cannabis, or 16 grams of extracts, or 800 milligrams of edibles. Additionally adults may grow their own at home, at six plants per person, and a maximum of 12 plants per household. One thing to note is that the potency for adult-use customers might be different than the medical version in some cases, because medical patients are allowed higher per-package dosages of THC.
