Michigan, where adult-use cannabis is legal, is going to get their very first cannabis consumption lounge later this month in the greater Detroit metro area, in a city called Hazel Park. The venue is called “Hot Box Social,” owned by Trucenta, which is a vertically integrated cannabis company that doe outdoor and indoor cultivation, as well as processing, manufacturing, wholesale distribution, and they also have a retail location called “Breeze” which is also in Hazel Park. Their plan is to first use the space for private corporate, social, and special events. And then this summer, they’ll begin scheduling events so the general public can enjoy consumption-friendly activities like social gatherings, educational opportunities, and arts-focused activities. One of the requirements for consuming cannabis products on site is that they must be delivered by a licensed dispensary, and the lounge will have advisors on-hand to help guests make informed decisions on consuming products. The venue itself will not sell food and beverages, but caterers and food trucks will be allowed. Trucenta’s chief information officer Nowfal Akash said, “Our hope is that Hot Box Social will be used to bring a new experience for companies hosting brainstorming meetings, friends who are gathering for private parties, and one-of-a-kind fundraisers to raise money for nonprofit organizations,” We're definitely planning to check it out on our next visit to Michigan!
