In 2018, Missouri residents voted to provide a portion of medical marijuana tax revenue for the Missouri Veterans Commission. Yesterday marked the fourth time such funds have been transferred to the veterans group. This time, the transfer was $13 million dollars, and to date, they have given nearly $27 million in total to the veterans. Missouri Veterans Commission Executive Director Paul Kirchhoff said the “[Missouri Veterans Commission] will continue to use these funds for increasing support for Missouri veterans and veteran operations across the seven Veterans Homes, five cemeteries and Veteran Service Officers statewide.” Lyndall Fraker, Director of the Section of Medical Marijuana Regulation with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services said, “The state’s medical marijuana program has been a great success.” Since legal medical marijuana sales began in October 2020, there have been more than $470 million in sales.
