Money is the great motivator, and it’s more than likely the thing that is ultimately going to get cannabis fully legalized. Recently we reported on Michigan’s disbursement of the state’s adult use cannabis tax revenue from 2021 sales. Each city or county which allowed adult use cannabis businesses within their jurisdiction received $56,453.44 for each and every cannabis business within their zone. So for a city like Ann Arbor which had 25 licensed adult use cannabis businesses, the city received $1.4 million dollars this year. This revenue bonus will be distributed every year, with the dollar amounts based on sales. And sales continue to increase. A city which at first said no, perhaps based on prejudices to the industry and misconceived ideas of how they would affect their neighborhoods, may now be reconsidering as they see the potential revenue they can benefit from by allowing adult use cannabis businesses. One such place is Traverse City, Michigan. The city’s planning commissioners are working on a plan to allow adult use cannabis businesses within their municipality. Mayor Pro Tem Amy Shamroe spoke to The Ticker news site and said, “My personal goal, barring any lawsuits keeping us from doing it, is that we would be issuing permits this summer." As cities and states see the incredibly lucrative tax revenue received by their counterparts who allow adult use cannabis businesses, and see that those businesses have not brough negative effects with it, and see how many jobs this industry can create, its more than likely that eventually everyone will want to jump on the cannabis train, too. There are literally billions of dollars to be made in tax revenue for government entities, and hundreds of thousands of jobs across the country to be made. And that is not the sort of thing to go unnoticed. Comments are closed.
