New York state residents have been waiting for their adult use sales to begin. Promises from authorities have said it would happen before the end of 2022. And while we still aren’t there yet, the state's cannabis delivery services received guidance last week and are poised to kick off operations, even ahead of the launch of first sales in storefronts. Under the guidelines, licensees whose storefronts are built by the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY) will be permitted to conduct deliveries. One drawback is that customers must pre-pay online and cannot pay in cash. While this is definitely safer for the delivery drivers, it’s not known how prepayment is supposed to be done online. Federal law prevents credit card companies and banks from working with cannabis, so those are not an option. Perhaps customers can put cash on an account in advance, and then use that to order with. Or perhaps the state was counting on safe banking passing before the end of this year. In any event, creative cannabis fans will figure out how to get those deliveries going! Comments are closed.
