Texas has very limited medical marijuana access. In addition to strict laws, limited qualifications, and very low dosages, there are also only a few places to access it. But now, one of the three approved medical cannabis operators in the state, Goodblend, are debuting their new mobile dispensary, called the CannaBus, and launching their “Ride For Your Rights” CannaBus Tour. Terrence Baugh operates the CannaBus and is also a patient advocate for Goodblend. He said, “The bus is definitely a rolling billboard … It’s also an opportunity to educate patients and customers all across the state.” He added, “What we’re looking to do is bring folks in who aren’t aware of the program and make sure that they understand that this is an issue that involves all Texans.” The 36-foot long CannaBus has a private consultation room, as well as some medical cannabis product displays. Reece Fulgham is the CEO of Parallel —goodblend’s parent company — and he said that he believes there are a great deal of Texans who don’t realize they’re eligible for medical marijuana. After House Bill 1535 became a state law last year, qualifying conditions for medical marijuana were updated to add post traumatic stress disorder to the list. According to Parallel’s research, that means there are now as many as 5 million more eligible people for the medical marijuana program. At this time, though, only 34,000 Texans are currently enrolled, in a state of 29 million people. The “Ride For Your Rights” CannaBus Tour is officially kicking off in San Angelo, Texas, on Oct. 4. It will be making stops in Abilene, Fort Worth, Plano, Nacogdoches, Houston and San Antonio before reaching Killeen on Oct. 20th. Terrence Baugh said, “We’re going to areas that aren’t typically the big cities in Texas. We’re trying to engage those customers to make sure that they’re aware that this is available.” While the cannabis oppressors are doing all they can to circumvent access to the plant, it’s fantastic to see companies like this coming up with creative ways to educate the public and grow the movement for ultimate legalization.
